Why a 2–12 instead of an LPVO or a 5–25

LPVOs are popular, but a good 1–10 is not trivial to get right. High-power 5–25 class glass is often too heavy for an MSR. A 2–12 sits in the middle: you can almost run it both-eyes-open at the low end, and it still covers steel work out toward a thousand yards — or, for the rimfire work in this first look, out to about 300 yards.
